How to Prepare Seafood

This week, we are talking seafood. Seafood can provide a number of health benefits. Yet, because many are unfamiliar with how to cook seafood, preparing it can be an intimidating task. Below are three EASY ways to prepare seafood so you can enjoy with confidence!

Put them in a pot

Crustaceans such as lobster, shrimp, and crab, can simply be boiled. After 10-20 minutes of boiling, you can crack open the shells and enjoy with lemon, parsley, or chives.

Give them a sear

Compared to other proteins, seafood has a relatively low minimum safety temperature (145°F). This allows most filets of fresh fish to be seasoned and seared on a flat top or grill for a short amount of time. Coat your grill top with oil to prevent sticking and cook on high heat for five minutes each side.

Can you say sauté?

Delicate seafood such as scallops, shrimp, and crab meat can be sautéed and added to pastas, salads, or consumed as a stand-alone dish. The benefit of sautéing a food is that you can incorporate a variety of different herbs and seasonings into the cooking process!
